Born in Charleston, South Carolina to Nigerian parents, I went from All-ACC fullback at Wake Forest to nine seasons in the NFL, an MBA at George Washington University, and twenty years of work across business, healthcare, media, and youth education.
My father is a physician, so the expected path growing up was medical school. I took a different route: first-team All-ACC at Wake Forest, drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in 2003, and nine seasons in the NFL with the Ravens (2003–2006) and Atlanta Falcons (2007–2011).
Playing fullback earned me two NFL All-Pro selections, a Pro Bowl, the 2007 Falcons Walter Payton Man of the Year honor, and what was then the largest contract ever given to a fullback. In 2025, Wake Forest inducted me into its Sports Hall of Fame, and in 2026 the Pro Football Retired Players Association honored me with its Champions Award at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

After football I earned my MBA at George Washington University (following NFL executive programs at Harvard, Wharton, and Stanford). I founded ONO Consulting and the Ovie Mughelli Foundation, served as Director of Strategic Partnerships at Wellvana Health, and joined the boards of MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, Northside Hospital Foundation, and Communities In Schools of Atlanta.

Honesty
Say what is real before the play starts. In an NFL film room or a board meeting, the fastest way to lose trust is dressing up a missed assignment.
Empathy
Understand the room you are walking into — the pressure on the CEO, the skepticism of the employee in the third row, the family behind the patient.
Mutual Respect
A fullback blocks for someone else's yardage, and the running back knows who cleared the lane. Great partnerships work the same way.
Family
Husband to Masika and father of five in Atlanta. Every commitment I take on — in healthcare, environmental work, and business — starts at home.
